Vintage Oval Cameo

Vintage Oval Cameo Framed #1, ca. 1940s. Cameo itself is quite large measuring 2-1/2”H x 1-3/4”W x ~1/2”D (with frame 6-3/4”H x 5-3/4”W x 7/8”D). Hand-carved most likely from shell, depicting a lovely young lady facing to her left with beautifully coiffed hair, elegant period dress and a single flower on her shoulder. What’s particularly stunning about this cameo is, that instead of being inset as part of a brooch, this one has been treated as a piece of art, mounted onto a green velveteen matte, accented by a gold-leaf inner framing matte with center oval, framed by a lovely carved wood frame with floral trim. The finished product is a true work of art, (if you prefer to wear your art, cameo can be safely removed from the backing and made into a brooch). In excellent condition.
