Antique French Gilt / Bronze Stationary Holder, ca. 1880s (late Napoleon III period, neo-classic style). 10-1/2”H x 7- 5/8”W x 5-1/4”D. A magnificent two slot, footed stationary holder framed atop by two symmetrical figural dragons on each side holding a central ornament with a fruit basket (typical of 18th century style ornamentations). Exceptional detailing of the ornate pierced decoration and ornate accents. The bronze patina has developed a rich, mellow and darker tone then the pictures may reflect. Holds a fair amount of envelopes, stationary, business cards and stamps. A fine and useful accessory for your desk or elegant enough to place in any setting.
