Antique French Papier-Mache Crumb Tray, ca. 1900
(perhaps as early as 1880, late Napoleon III).
Originally part of a crumb set which also included a
brush, this traditional black lacquer finish beautifully
decorated with two birds alit upon a tree branch. A
lone butterfly rests above. The colors and detailing
are superb, as is the condition of the papier-mache
itself. 12-1/2”W x 10-1/4”H x 2”D, with just very
minor scuffing on back from age/use. Would look
lovely set tabletop or hung on the wall.
