Antique French Ceramic Figurine
How cute! Antique French Ceramic Figure of a boy and a girl, ca. 1930s. 13-1/2"H x
4-1/2"D x 7-15/16"W, cast plaster, with original painted finish. The two children appear
to be brother and sister - the boy is crying because he dropped his jug of water or milk,
and his concerned sister is trying to tell him that everything will be alright (the metal
plaque beneath their feet reads in French - PLEURE PAS VA, which translates to 'do not
cry'). The reverse of the figure is completely finished, and the bottom part of the bench is
stamped '558 FRANCE' plus there appears to be a maker's mark that resembles a very
stylized 'B'. Overall in very good condition, with expected minor paint loss and minor
chips. An absolutely adorable accent...
